VIRTUAL DESIGN AND
COLLABORATION
Minimizing project risk through 3D analysis
and visualization
Complex terrain, protected land, and a tight construction schedule can all lead to project risk. Recently, we were selected to construct such a project.
When our team was introduced to the project, a site design and permit had already been completed and approved. We quickly realized the magnitude of the terrain and the limitations to land disturbances created extreme challenges for offloading components and erection. We needed a solution that could optimize the site layout and allow us to safely and effectively build the project.
By utilizing ArcGIS, our virtual design engineers created an interactive map detailing the full project down to the location of each turbine component. This detailed information allowed spatial issues and clashes to be easily identified. The map was also a strong communication tool for all project stakeholders regardless of location. A new layout and implementation plan was created that kept the project on time and on budget.
