Childrens Memorial Research Center Expansion / Chicago, IL
What kind of laboratory needs to be built for pediatric medical research?
Construction of the new Children's Memorial Research Center Pavilion added an additional 52,000 square feet of laboratory space to the existing 71,000 square foot facility. The new space houses 12-14 investigator-led teams of researchers who will conduct clinically-relevant basic science studies in priority areas of pediatric research. In addition to the 55 new benches in the laboratory, the Pavilion also adds three medium-sized conference rooms, shared procedure and cold rooms, and increased equipment space for large shared use items. The project also included the renovation of the existing facility and expanding the Pritzker Library, administrative offices, and shared research support facilities. In all, the expansion of the Children’s Research Center significantly enhances the capacity for research at Children's Memorial.
