The Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Building is a biomedical research facility operated by the University of Colorado Denver. The facility, which received LEED Gold Certification, is a collaborative center of learning to prepare students for their roles as pharmacists and pharmacist scientists.
The ground level houses clinical trial suites, offices, and conference space. Levels two through four are dedicated to research, allowing the school to expand its pharmaceutical biotechnology program and create a drug-development center to focus on new medications.
With the combination of LEED strategies applied to the Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Building, the facility saved over 40% on indoor water usage, 29% on annual energy costs, 78% of on-site generated construction waste from landfills, 19% of the total building materials with recycled materials, and 83% of the total wood-based building materials was selected from FSC certified forests.
